Bill Bowden is a well-known former New Zealand cricket umpire, famous for his flamboyant and theatrical signaling style. He gained international recognition for his unique gestures, most notably the "crooked finger of doom" dismissal signal, a result of his battle with rheumatoid arthritis.
Bowden officiated in 84 Test matches, 200 ODIs, and 24 T20Is. He was a member of the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires from 2003 to 2013 and again briefly in 2014. While his style sometimes drew criticism, it made him one of the most recognizable and beloved figures in modern cricket, and he is remembered for bringing a sense of showmanship to the sport.
