The legendary Indian bowler Bapu Nadkarni holds the all-time record for the most consecutive maiden overs in a Test match, and by extension, the most consecutive dot balls bowled by a single bowler. In 1964 against England, he bowled a remarkable 21.5 consecutive maiden overs, which equates to 131 consecutive dot balls. This is an astonishing feat of accuracy and control.

In a T20 World Cup match against Papua New Guinea in 2024, New Zealand's Lockie Ferguson bowled a record-breaking 24 consecutive dot balls, a feat that is effectively four maiden overs in a row. He finished with figures of 4-3-0-3, making history for the most economical spell in men's T20I history. The tall Pakistani pacer once bowled a spell of 23 consecutive dot balls in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), a record for the tournament.

The record for the most consecutive dot balls bowled by a team in a Test match is held by Sri Lanka. In a 2016 Test against Australia, the Sri Lankan spinners bowled an incredible 154 consecutive dot balls as they tried to bowl out the Australian tailenders.
