When a car drove onto a pitch

Yes, once car famously drove onto a cricket pitch and caused a major security scare. This bizarre incident occurred in 2017 during a Ranji Trophy (India's domestic first-class competition) match between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh at the Air Force Sports Complex in Palam, Delhi.

With several international players like Gautam Gambhir, Ishant Sharma, and Suresh Raina on the field, a man driving a silver-grey car entered the ground through an unmanned gate. He then proceeded to drive his car onto the pitch, swerving over the 22-yard strip twice, before stopping. The players and officials were left stunned and quickly had to get out of the car's way.

The incident was a significant security breach and led to a temporary halt in play. The driver, who was reportedly lost and possibly inebriated or mentally distressed, was eventually detained by security and handed over to the police. Fortunately, no one was harmed, and after the match referee inspected the pitch for damage, the game was able to resume.
