When two women shook the world

There is an incredible T20 partnership record with a match itself full of bizarre and record-breaking statistics. The record-breaking partnership of 350 runs was set by Argentina openers Lucia Taylor and Albertina Galan against Chile in the first T20 International of a bilateral series in Buenos Aires on October 13, 2023.

Taylor and Galan's stand of 350 runs is the highest for any wicket in all of T20 International cricket, men's or women's. It shattered the previous record by a massive 93 runs. Both batters scored centuries, with Lucia Taylor making a staggering 169 off 84 balls and Albertina Galan scoring 145 not out off 84 balls. Taylor's knock was, at the time, the highest individual score in a women's T20I.

A unique fact: Despite the massive run total, not a single six was hit by either team in the entire match. All of the runs came from fours, singles, doubles, and most notably, extras.

The Chilean bowlers were exceptionally wayward, conceding an astonishing 73 extras, including 64 no-balls and 8 wides. One of the overs alone went for 52 runs, an unwanted record for the most expensive over in T20I history. The partnership laid the foundation for Argentina's final score of 427/1, which is also the highest team total in all of men's and women's T20I cricket.
